ALLIHIES COPPER MINE TOUR Allihies. In 1812, life in Allihies on the remote Beara Peninsula changed utterly when a rich copper deposit was discovered which led to the biggest copper mining enterprise in Ireland. Allihies Copper Mine will conduct a guided tour of the surface area of the mine and the museum. Visit the impressive engine houses and see the remains of the powder houses and dressing floors. Glimpse into the gaping mouth at the head of the mine. Meet at the Copper Cafe at 3pm.
