Explore the Future of Beara: Join Us for an Inspiring Weekend at the Allihies Coastal Educational Hub!

Join us in Allihies from 11th to 13th of October, for an inspiring event featuring engaging talks by a diverse lineup of speakers, vibrant discussions, and hands-on activities centered on the future of rural Ireland, with a special focus on the Beara Peninsula over the next 50 years. From marine and fishing to farming, biodiversity, sustainable living, rewilding, and our shared heritage, this event promises to enlighten and engage attendees with a variety of expert insights.

Included each day lunch, tea and coffee, plus a live music event.

Fri. 11/10/24

7:30pm Opening of Allihies Autumn School featuring Eoghan Daltun: “My Journey Restoring a Temperate Rainforest Ecosystem in Beara”  followed by wine reception

Exhibition: “Biodiversity in Allihies” by Amber Broughton

Sat. 12/10/24

10am- 1pm Talk and Walk with Dr. Patrick Meere: “The Geology of Beara”

1pm Lunch @Allihies Copper Café

2:30pm- 3.30pm Talk by Dr. Brendan Dunford: “Farming on the Edge”

3:30pm- 5pm Talk by Dr. Kevin Flannery: “The History and Future of Fishing in Beara”

8pm- 9:30pm Live music (ticket incl. in price, plus concert open to the public)
